While Paulson is a fine actor, that accent attempt was appalling!!!

Exactly.
English and Australian performers are everywhere right now, much to the chagrin of American actors. They work cheaper, and American audiences have a boner for the Brits not seen since Beatlemania.
Her accent sucks, but I thought it was a slick bit of satire.

It seems strange for her character. Ghost story re-enactment shows are usually low budgetwould they get an actress with an accent she'd have to mask or just make it easy and get someone without one?
The actors who were in the reenactment seem to be of a higher level than you'd usually see in those shows, which is also strange.

She kinda reminds me of Emily Blunt. She sounds cute playing a ditzy brit chick.
Another one that seemed to surprise a lot of people was Hugh Laurie! I had been a fan of his for a long time before HOUSE, so I knew he wasn't American. But now it almost seems odd for me when I hear him using his real accent, because I'm so used to hearing him do an American one.
100% feel the same as this. Love, Love, Love Hugh
and
House.
Killing Can Be a Righteous Act.

Was it really necessary? No, not really. But I actually thought it was a rather clever touch to make her British. It felt fairly realistic to me. Simply because you'd be surprised to find out how many British actors actually play in American television. The first two that always come to mind to me are Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead) and Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy). Never in a million years would I have ever guessed they were British, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that out. It's not even just British. People like Matthew Rhys, who in real life has a Welsh accent, have been on TV for years and years. There is a list as long as my arm of British, Australian, etc. people that are on American TV. So while it might seem unnecessary to some, I thought it was pretty clever and true to real life.

I think it's different and fun. Good to see them changing it up.
