I wonder how much the unreliable narration re: ghosts will come into play during the second half of the season. We're told a few things during MRN that we know aren't true. They spent a while blathering on about the Dying Grass Moon, but we know very well that ghosts can kill whenever the hell they want. And what power, really, does the word 'Croatoan' have? It obviously didn't work for Violet. We see it evoked multiple times during MRN. We might excuse it working for Cricket because he might be a witch and witches have demonstrated some power over ghosts, but Elias?

Holy moly, it's like a greatest hits of crazy!
There is no such thing as the simple truth.

Violet was also a ghost at that point when she tried to use Croatoan to banish another ghost. That could explain why it works this season and not for Violet.

Nuh-uh!
She only tried croatoan once, and it was on Zachary Quinto, and he ended up just laughing at her. You're thinking of when she used "Go away!" to banish the ghosts.
We thought we lost you. Welcome back.

Croatoan DID work for Violet, but it only makes them go away for a short time. Its not a perma-ban. I believe she used it on both Tate and Beau.
Dude, its Beacon Hills.
