That's probably part of the reason Gaga saved her in the first place: she sensed a powerful control-freak of a woman, who she knew could use her power to keep people in line. Although Gaga was probably hoping Kathy would convert them all, not kill them

I think the bitterness was more about being betrayed by her son and having a f_cking cage locked onto her head.

She is very bitter about being not in control, as seen with her abandonment in the forest. She would do anything to be the queen of the land.

Does she though? I don't think she wants to control people just to control them, I think she's committed to protecting the colony and exercises severe punishments to ensure its safety. I don't think she wants to have this control just to have it. It's a means to an end, but I feel there's something missing in her story about why she cares as much as she does about these people who reject her.
