Every now and again I remember this film and how irritating the gangsters were, they really took the shine off an otherwise decent film.

You know that's probably the exact reason a lot of their acting is so bad. One of the hardest things in acting is to come off natural. It takes a lot of talent, skill, and dedication to achieve it. Just because they lived the life doesn't mean they can automatically portray it realistically in front of a camera.

You know that they used some real gang membersright.

Yes, those gangsters were ridiculous. The movie was already average to begin with, but they were just annoying. I do admit that they made me laugh at times, though.

That's true their sentences had more curse words in them then any other words.

Yeah they sucked I really liked the film but couldn't help think who would be scarred of these muppets. The gangster school kids from "one eight seven" were more intimidating and they was like 16-17.

The gang was terrible. So OTT and unrealistic.
As you say, the gangsters in
Training Day
were terrifying, especially in the scene inside the apartment when Jake is almost murdered by them.

It was an accurate portrayal.
