They are, by definition, fair. One of the main characters hates them and argues against them. The other main character likes them and argues for them.
That's what fairness is: Even debate.

My daughter read the Twilight books in her early teens and a few years later poked fun at them herself.

They aren't well-written - but it's still unfair because that doesn't mean that people can't or shouldn't enjoy them.

Ha, ha brilliant! I wonder if the film-makers thought of that.

It was unfair. You know why? Because this movie has the same narrative as Twilight. Both stories are about two problem-free white people with a huge age-gap.
