I'd call it urban fantasy or magical realism.
I find that most people who love American Gods also love urban fantasy books (Emma Bull, Charles DeLint, etc) so there's that.

Fantasy covers a wide range of genres. But I think there's a way to add subgenres to a page.
And it's not really horror.
