I liked this film a lot. Mainly because it is a 'leave your brain at the door before watching' kind of movie. Pure action with none of the dramatic stuff in it.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good story to sink my teeth into like Casablanca, or the lives of others for example.
But I admit I love a good action flick where I can just enjoy the carnage without too much else going on. It is a very similar film to Shootout with Clive Owen, another great action flick of this ilk.

Garbage movie even with the final fight imo.

Yeah it's 150% about the action so what? It's done better than any single hand-to-hand action film in thirty years, and it was done on a beep budget. American production companies need to take notice!

There's like 6 fight scenes that are as good as the final fight, which makes this movie more than worthwhile.
First, when they get shot in the hallway is pretty damn good, even if dark, the beauty is in the flashes from the guns.
When they get in the apartment and break the floor, then use the fridge with the grenade. Wonderful.
Then when Rama steps out carrying Bowo and basically owns a corridor full of baddies with total badassery.
Him against the 4 machete guys when he breaks the door, grabs a dude and jumps backwards. That was the best kill I have seen in quite a while.
The fight between Jaka and the bad guy.
The fight sequence in the lab.
The final fight 2 vs 1.
That's around 70 minutes of pure non stop beautifully choreographed fight scenes.

This was a good movie. I had a good time watching it. The movie was good. I still remember as if it was yesterday (It was yesterday), I found myself having a good time watching it. All in all, I'd say that, good was this movie. Yeah, a good one you know!

Every other fight was awesome. I actually love when he cleans the corridor and his fight against the machete gang. Those are the best for me.

This was just an ok movie 6/10
No real plot, and the action was a bit unrealistic at times. If you are going to make a movie that relies almost 100% on action and not much else, the action scenes better be really spectacular.

You must jerk off to Ingmar Bergman films.

Please elaborate what was different 20 years ago so that these kind of movies were okay.
I'd rather have an action movie with well executed martial scenes one after another than an action movie with 30 minutes of fights and 60 minutes of generic filler scenes that will skip anyway (if not upon first viewing, then on subsequent ones)

Rubbish. What about the shoot-out that ends with the refrigerator exploding and Bowo injured? What about the really tense scene where Rama and Bowo hide behind a wall and are almost killed by the machete gang leader? What about the fight with the machete gang? What about the fight between Jaka and Mad Dog? Those are all great scenes. If you went in expecting an intricate storyline and complex plot, it's your own mistake, so don't blame the movie for your own shortcomings. If you want an action movie with a plot I don't know, watch The Raid 2.

Remove the 2-on-1 fight for a better movie

i felt this was martial arts for the new generation, because films back then werent as brutal as they are now. i do agree that without all the fighting and violence there is nothing else to this film.

I'm glad you said that because this film gave me that nostalgic feeling. You didn't like the movie, that's fine. This was mainly a martial arts movie, if you were looking for some epic story telling with dudes in uniform just re-play one of the CoD games. Any of them, seeing as there all the same. I'm sure that's what your looking for.
