None of the other cardinals were aware that Benitez was intersex. Even Cardinal Lawrence didn't know, until after the final vote had been taken. I'm guessing that Cardinal Lawrence won't reveal what he knows, either. But it's hard to keep these things private, and eventually the truth likely will come out, and a scandal will ensue. It won't be the first papal scandal.
I suspect that the African cardinal probably actually has more than one secret child hidden away in orphanages. But if he'd successfully hidden his sexual indiscretions and been elected, he wouldn't be the first pope to have had children privately. Several of the medieval popes also did.

Maybe the difference is the Black Cardinal had a moral failing but the Afghan Cardinal did not. They were just born that way.
