things like real animal killings, rape and nudity were all hallmarks of the Italian cannibal films. without stuff like that, it's just a regular old horror film and not a real cannibal film.

I have to agree this is terrible for a cannibal film but I do not believe that you need rape in it or even animal killings. You understand what a cannibal is right? This is not cannibal rapists the movie.
I doubt that you will ever get real animal killings in a modern Hollywood production it would be career suicide and would cause mass boycotts to the movie. You do understand why the rape scenes were in Holocaust don't you? It was vital to the story and as this films story did not need one it did not have one thankfully just for the sake of it.

Well, it was cannibal enough for me and it's not like I'm new to horror or something I started watching horror movies 28 years ago. However I'm not really fan of sick scenes and too much gore.
