Man, you will be bored, this is not movie about aliens, aliens are just framework for the story about woman and her sick future kid, this is is drama about life, problems in life,and the end is rushed and it doesn't make sense, aliens are just extras in this movie.There is no suspense in movie and movie is boring as hell, this is the most boring movie i have ever seen in my life.

No. The producers wanted to use actual aliens but they couldn't guarantee that no aliens would be harmed during the making of the movie. As a result the Humane Society wouldn't greenlight the movie and they had to use CGI instead.

They are really really silly octopus things but with a leg missing, so they are heptapods. And they kinda float around in their chamber and never interact with the humans, so it literally seems like they are octopi hovering around in the water. Ridiculous looking.

There is an initial sense of creepiness/unease with what is presented about the aliens, but that kind of goes a way, and the purpose of the movie really isn't to scare you with the aliens.

That is a question that I often have about aliens in movies. They often have tentacles or hands with claws or two or three large fingers and are not very dextrous. So how are they able to construct and operate these highly advanced ships and equipment? This takes me right out of my suspension of disbelief bubble and destroys all possibility credibility of the story.

How did they use advanced tools? Anybody else find it gross that they wrote in bodily fluids?

Actually, the last shot of the alien reveals the top part of its body and (according to the people who designed the aliens for the film) it is meant to resemble a hooded-grim reaper, which it vaguely does.

Yes; the aliens are shown, but they are not remotely humanoid. The aliens are known as
"Heptapods", and are akin to huge, seven-legged squids.
Without going too far into spoiler territory, the film's plot revolves around just how "alien" the aliens are;
in terms of how they look, communicate and even think.
