Up to this past weekend, Wes Craven’s original Scream still remained the highest grossing single installment with $173 million worldwide, but Scream 7 has now claimed that title.
With a current worldwide total of $176,947,102, Scream 7 is now officially the highest grossing installment in the Scream franchise at the box office.
Scream VI came close to breaking the original movie’s record with $166.5 million at the box office back in 2023, but Scream 7 is the first movie to actually dethrone the 1996 original.
Of course, we must note that Scream‘s box office numbers are 30 years old and have not been adjusted for inflation, which is always an important thing to mention in these situations.
Scream 7 has scared up $106.5 million of its worldwide total so far here in the United States, while the slasher sequel has thus far taken in $70 million at the international box office.

Of course, we must note that Scream‘s box office numbers are 30 years old and have not been adjusted for inflation, which is always an important thing to mention in these situations.
Taking the originals takings and converting them into today's dollars with the magical inflation app of numbers…Scream (1996) pulled in around $354,800,000 against Scream 7's $194,239,768 (So far).
All said and done, for a modern movie up against streaming and digital distribution, that's still making a killing (Pardon the pun)
