Well the first half was pretty much the same but the second half was different, so it's still worth watching. I prefer the original as it's bleaker.

Yeah, like that was going to work, eh? A lot of girls would prefer Channing Tatum but she wanted James McAvoy. Yeah, no. Sorry lady! Such a backhanded "compliment". I don't have a hard time understanding him. His accent never struck me as being particularly thick. I've definitely heard accents that were a lot more challenging to understand.
If you want an accent that's tricky to understand, try to listen to someone speak who has a Geordie accent! That'll get your knickers in a twist, I'm willing to bet. I love it, though lol

I would say see it because you have to experience this to know how much they ****ed it up.
Forget how they messed up the climax. Even the first two acts when they repeat events from the original, like the slide, the meat, the dinner, you just have to see what they did to it.
and can you believe they changed the accomplice
from the immigrant babysitter to the WHITE WAITER?????????
I guess they didn't want to show the IMMIGRANT
as being a villain
because WOKE even though it makes perfect sense that he'd help since the
evil family would exploit his status as an immigrant by threatening to deport him and paying him handsomely in cash.
But yes, the white man who owns the restaurant, let's make HIM the
accomplice.
MAKES PERFECT SENSE.

Paddy was going to numb the
tongue first with anesthetic shot before he removed it. Isn't he a nice evil guy?

They don't even compare.
I'm all for a happy ending, but they over did it.
The filmmakers even made this Paddy and Ciara less evil. Even when Louise caught
Agnes was in their bed,
Ciara explained it in such a way that it could be forgiven.
That wasn't the case in the original, when Paddy and his wife were both naked. And then, Ciara (Karin) gaslights and blames Louise instead of being apologetic like the remake version.
And these kids were like 12.
The tongue element
is relatively impractical here, because both kids are mentally competent to tell someone what happened.
The original kid was like 5.
Without a tongue,
he had no way to effectively communicate and the evil family didn't have to worry about sneaking off to tell someone because he wasn't old enough to know better.
Every equivalent scene from the original is a less sociopathic version of it.
They wrote this so we'd like the heroes, and consequently, made the threat less of a threat until the third act.
They even left out some of the darker scenes like Paddy using the toilet while Louise was showering.
