If they really made this movies "for the fans" then they failed twice :

• you should never make a movie for anyone, you should make a GOOD movie period (and try to sell it to as many people as possible, and that's NOT the job of the director but that of the marketing department)
• the hardcore fans hated it even more than the casual movie goers like me.
  So both the intention and the execution were wrong: and then they wonder why this movie didn't work

The movie is nonsensical because so many scenes are missing.

A random sample size of 1. Anecdotal evidence. What's this supposed to mean? I know people who DON'T follow these characters who did like the movie. Doesn't prove anything.

People that know nothing about the characters, comics etc tend to dislike this movie a lot because we that have some ideia of what to expect fill the blanks with previous knowledge, whereas they just know what are shown.
What she described to me were a series of unconnected semi-random scenes, where all she was thinking was "why?"
Even I thought that, I was bored out of my mind Imagine her.
so yeah i can see someone having nightmares about this movie. At least they can't say it didn't leave a mark

Well, noBatman was kind of vicious until they brought Robin in. I see it as a return to form. But to ignore that the other part existed? That's just blind fanboyishness.

I AM a comic reader going back to the EARLY Curt Swan on Superman days (I mean, the JLA still worked out of a cave and Wolverine wasn't even a glimmer in Marvels' eyes when I started reading) and this movie bothered me with how poorly they handled the source materials. And I was there for Az-Bats in the comics, Electric Superman, so many of the weird phases.yet THIS bothered me.

Glad to hear others feel that way too. Superman is my favorite and what Snyder has done to him in bvs makes me worried for JL. Gosh I really hope superman doesn't come back from the dead and is mind controlled into a bad guy or something. Now I'd be convinced Snyder hates superman

superman is a scout boy and above all an american scout boy
when synder twist him into some emo alien who can fly and super strong
that's when he failed
to me superman is not about his superpower
it's about how to inspire, to show people that everything will be fine if superman is around

I'm with you. I enjoyed it at first bc my fanboy glasses were blind to the obvious flaws. After looking back and rewatching it seems like Snyder just randomly shot scenes he felt looked good and didn't care what order they went in. Knightmare scene is a perfect example. It just appeared out of no where. No hint of Bruce falling asleep or anything. Just him waking up afterward. Also I can't show this movie to my five year old who loves superman. To him what used to be my superman growing up captain America has become that to my son. Snyder wasted such a good character. Poor cavill. I like his superman just needs a new director.
