Yeah, I don't know if it technically qualifies as that. It's not like they weren't going to release the TC on home media anyway. I suppose more people will buy this now, but no one is forcing anyone to buy anything. If you didn't like SS, I doubt these extra 13 minutes will change your mind.

Lord of the Rings had the extended cuts and granted, they're superior to the theatrical cuts, but they didn't release deliberately inferior products to cash in on "better" versions. It was more like "You like our movies? Here's a little something for you to EXPAND on what you already loved" as opposed to "What? Had a problem with our movie? Here's a fixer upper for you. Enjoy!"
To be fair, that's just how we're interpreting it. The reality is that most fans liked the movie. It made a lot of money and it had good legs at the box office. The fact that the critics hated it is mostly irrelevant.
And it's only 13 extra minutes. It's not the "overhaul" (if we can even call it that) that the UE of BvS was. That was a slightly different version of the movie. This might literally just be a longer version of SS. It looks like they're just adding most of the Joker/Harley stuff back in.

Even though I'm excited to see the extended cut (I still liked the theatrical cut and I won't be trashing it even if the EC is miles better - you can tag this post to hold me to my word if need be), I am also pounding my head and rolling my eyes.
See. If this kind of $h!t becomes a regular thing for WB, what's the point in even seeing these movies in theaters? I mean, seriously.

Look, BvS was one thing, Suicide Squad is pushing it, and if they do it again with Wonder Woman and Justice League, that's when it's officially over for me. Because I'm not paying 10 dollars to see an inferior cut of a movie only to have the supposed "better" cut of it come out on DVD four months later. That is the biggest cash-grab sad excuse of moviemaking there is.

How does it feel to be deconstructed?

Well, for all we know, Ayer could have been lying for the studio's sake. At least, it's pretty clear that there were some important scenes cut from Suicide Squad. The version released in theaters had some very poor editing.

Maybe. We'll see. I also don't think it'll be drastically different. But they have to do SOME editing to make all the new scenes work. So it's not necessarily like they're just inserting deleted scenes. They have to edit the music and sound to make it flow.

This ain't no Director's Cut or Ultimate Cut, it's just a normal dvd release with a lot of deleted scenes. Ayer had already revealed in an interview that the TC was his version but there's about 10mins of footage that they can add.

I don't know many people to "turned" on the TC of BvS, other than maybe DMM. My score for it didn't really change. But I recognized the UE as the superior version of the movie.
And I actually liked the TC of SS. It was schlock, but it was entertaining schlock. If the EC adds some depth, then cool. But if it's just pointless filler, then I might still prefer the TC.

I can not wait to see the DC fans who have been defending SS suddenly turn on the TC. My predictions they will call it night and day and suddenly the TC will be bad but the EC will be a masterpiece. Go on DC milk those Fanboys for every last cent.
It does start to beg the question though is it going to be worth watching DCEU movies in the cinema or should people just wait for the full version of the movie to come out a few months later?

I definitely agree with that. WB need to generate positive buzz more than they need to do what they think is financially safe because that just keeps backfiring on them.
But I'm still glad to see that they're releasing the better product after the backlash. That is better than just leaving the inferior versions of the movies as is.

Yep. And they have better versions (director cuts) that they don't like and that they don't release until it's too late.
