Yes I suppose that’s true. These ancient Grange Hill and Bread annuals are now providing me and my friend with Christmas laughs and joys decades after they did the same for kids decades ago.
Well maybe not laughs and joys as such. They give us a mild chuckle when we open them and I bet the kids back then just flicked through them a bit.
Any Roy of the Rovers annuals or Bunty's Bobby?
They must be worth a fair bob now
As I said some people, like yourself, will certainly court the appeal of next year's annual for Christmas. Some rich uncles will get their nieces and nephews one because it feels right and they'll eventually find their way to the bric-a-brac shops that you visit
It's a little microeconomy Bobby
No I think they’re a very niche item. I’ve seen Beano and Dandy annuals in the shops this year so someone must still get these. A friend of mine gets me the Viz annual every year as tradition and we buy each other fun jokey old annuals that we see in charity or bric-a-brac shops such as Grange Hill or Bread.
The only thing with that was you didn't know the cranberry sauce was advertised as spicy and you enjoyed it all the same anyways.
It wasn't until I mentioned that when you noticed that it wasn't noticeably spicy and felt a little let down. he food however done exactly what you wanted it to do and so much more
For me that's what Christmas is all about. Aiming for about ground level but an uplifting wind carries your arrow just that little further
Take the other week as an example, I ordered the stuffing stacker from KFC and my expectation was for it to be crap like all of these Maccers/KFC/Burger King efforts are, but I was surprised to find it was actually quite tasty.
Yes I suppose it is a bit like when I finally got around to trying out the famous £1 burger man in Blackpool who sells burgers for just one pound!! Couldn't find them
There I was, stuck in China and the only thing I could think of was crappy turkey nuggets shaped like dinosaurs
Then I spent the next 3 years in East Africa and guess what…they don't sell them there either!
So when I finally arrive, completely drained and living in an Airbnb with all mod cons (No airfryer though!) I go and look for some at my nearest Iceland. Nothing! I go to the largest Iceland in this city. Nothing! I go online and see that it was a limited edition for Pride run and that I'll never get to have a crappy turkey unicorn
It's OK though, I've made up for it plenty with loads of foods since then.
You should too. With the Cathedral City Cheddar Cheese range at Iceland*
