Downton Abbey
was an ITV airing, not a BBC airing (ITV has commercials and BBC doesn't).
Wolf Hall
was a BBC airing.
I'm still a little puzzled by
Wolf Hall
. The UK 2-disc version says runtime is 350 minutes. The 3-disc PBS version says runtime is 360 minutes. I don't know offhand why the runtime would have been longer in the U.S.
Anyway, I counted up the minutes in the U.S. Amazon Instant (streaming) version, and the total runtime is 358 minutes for the combined 6 episodes (

), and on Amazon UK the runtime of the streaming is 359 minutes for the 6 episodes (

The reason I'm trying to find the fullest possible version is because Jack Lowden is listed in the cast as the poet Thomas Wyatt, but I didn't see him at all in the version that was originally aired on PBS. I was looking pretty carefully, but I only watched each episode once. Now I'm trying to find where in fact his supposed scenes are. Maybe they were cut. (The UK 2-disc version says that the features include deleted scenes. I don't know yet what featurettes the PBS 3-disc version has.)

The broadcast US version of
Downton Abbey
contained extra scenes not shown in the UK - is that true of
Wolf Hall
, as well? (Those scenes are not on the "official" DVD set on sale in bothe the IS and the UK.)

Note: I see now that the 3-disc version seems to be the PBS version, though why they are selling that on Amazon UK, I do not know.
