Smart people do things that they enjoy doing, not for the awards, but simply because they enjoy it.
Some people might think Dylan has a massive ego because he doesn't care. I would argue that he's not ego driven and that's why the award means nothing to him.
They're probably upset because if people don't give a crap about the prestige of their award they're also not giving a crap about the bloated egos of the people who think they're so important that they decide who deserves awards.
