The movie was very well executed (I loved the cinematography and soundtrack) but I don't know, something was missing to make it epic. I don't know how to explain this. When you finish a good movie and you are left in awe, you know ? Personally I didn't feel that in the end.
Also I believe the final sex scene was unnecessary. Since we had seen them in a marvellously executed love scene in the middle of the movie which explained both of their lust for a woman, I expected a scene with a deeper meaning for the end. Something which would show their deeper and true feelings for each otherUnless it was only sensual lust.

The end scene does have a deeper meaning. The act they perform is the one Hideko reads to her captor's audience earlier in the film. At that point she is basically a prisoner to her Uncle and is forced to read these stories and fake the desire behind them. In the final scene she is free to feel this desire and to perform this act with someone she loves.
