I don't know much of you have played the hilariously fun game "Evil Dead - Regeneration", but for those who did and watched last episode didn't feel familiar?
The game starts with Ash locked up in an asylum exactly because no one believes in what happened at the cabin (in the game's world, Army of Darkness never happened) and everybody thinks he's a crazy murderer, so he has to team up with a midget who is half-deadite (can return from the dead, but it's not evil), voiced by Ted Raimi, to prove his innocence and stop the end of the world.
Makes you wonder if the writers purposely recycled the plot of the game or just made it by accident.

Nothing in evil dead makes sense. Especially not your dumb fan theories.

I think the opening setup was inspired by Regeneration. I loved both storylines.

No, it didn't feel similar at all aside from the asylum location. It was completely different.
