continued
Meet 2 girls. One owns auto parts store. the 2 strangers draw attention from the physically/verbally threatening local rowdies in the town diner/bar/pool hall. Owner of Corvette a recent college grad from a wealthy family w/no self-defense skills. Matriarchal diner owner tries to help the 2 fellows, as do their lovely companion-friends.
Can not recall the names of anyone on cast. The Corvette owner is tall, blonde, self-impressed, perfect Country Club persona and condescending vocal inflections. His sidekick was the polar opposite, and I believe he was a hitch-hiker. The scenery is the desert southwest. I'm sure the Driver cast member has been in other movies, before & since.
Thank you greatly for your Sherlock Holmes skills & determination.
This has been driving me nuts for over a month.

No doubt it was no accident to borrow such obvious likenesses & storylines with the long-running TV hit ROUTE 66, starring Martin Milner & George Maharis.
However, the driver in this mystery pic is much more a pampered fancy-lad with minimal real-world experience or skills. By the end, he had gained a backbone & 10 years maturity.
As an actor, the person in the role of sidekick has since had a busier & brighter acting career than the driver. I have amnesia on his face & name. Each role was well-cast and ably done.
We/You are on the right road, I do believe. Thank you for helping me.
Keep on cogitatingWe/You'll get it, at long lastgetting real close.

Could have been a Thunderbirdyesmemory could have juxtaposed the 2 American 2-seaters. Positive if a T-bird it was a first-generation 55-56-57if a Corvette, it was a 58-59-60. Thank you considering the possibilities.
Closer than we've ever been:)

The Corvette was definitely a red & white 1958-59-60 model with removable hardtop.
Hope this information helps.
