<p dir="auto">means the lies go on and on.<br />
I was heartened to think Thomas would actually be sent to the Westto America?   Yeah, right.<br />
But really?  Did anybody believe that outright lie Walter told Ingrid or Annett?  That he was releasing Thomas into the U.S.'s hands after Ingrid played the son card on him?<br />
Nice one, though, on Walter's part.  He shuts Ingrid up and makes her think he did something good for Thomas, and he gets a new agent, all in one.<br />
That lie quickly became apparent when Thomas passed through the checkpoint to the West German side and there was old Tobias, lying in wait like the spider and the fly, welcoming him, dripping with irony, to the west.<br />
Another coerced embedded agent for Tobias to runadding to his stable.<br />
Poor Thomas.  But, better than life in prison, I guess.  After all, he only has to survive 6 years as a spy then the whole mess will come tumbling down with the wall.</p>
