Few films have been brave enough to explore the 'gay cop, revenge story' which is a fairly over used hollywood formula.
The films exploration of the Los Angeles gay nightclubbing scene was an interesting insight at first, but quickly became tedious. The soundtrack, much the same, littered with the typical low rent gay bands you'd expect such as The Village People and Queen.
I felt personally, that the gay sex scene between Michael Shannon and Jake Gylenhal was completely out of place and drawn out, in a desperate and pathetic attempt to pay homage to Brokeback Mountain (Also a terrible film.)
Apparently the scene is not the theatrical release, so perhaps avoid the 'Director's Cut'.
I've seen better gay porno's (I don't watch gay porn.)
