With people saying this film reminded them of E.T., Goonies and Poltergeist; while watching this series it kept reminding me of the lost 80s classic D.A.R.Y.L.
Any other 80s films this reminded you of?

Am I the only one who thought that the title of this post meant that the Jonathan character resembles Daryl, as in Daryl Dixon of The walking Dead?

Haha, that's the exact scene I watched when checking out my VHS copy of D.A.R.Y.L. a couple of summers ago. All of that went over my head as a kid.
Literally five days ago, a family member asked me if I'd watched any Christopher Guest movies and I told her the construction owner dad in D.A.R.Y.L. (Michael McKean) is in those movies. She couldn't remember him though

The one scene in D.A.R.Y.L. I always loved is when his friend explains to him that kids need to screw up every once and a while so they can be parents. This was after he overheard Daryl's mom telling his mom that he is too perfect and even irons his clothes. Then Daryl intentionally strikes out in the little league game and tells his father to kiss his a-s. You can see how happy his mom is to go talk him and be a mother to him.
