People get wrapped up in the characters and always want to see them more. I think we had a great opportunity to let these characters go and tell another story with a new cast. Almost like twilight zone. Missed opportunity.

The OP has 100% control to grant his wish the story line has ended by simply ignoring any future episodes and move on elsewhere. The story has ended for you..and continues for those who wish it to continue. See how that works?
ST Season 2 appears on Netflix, scroll past that menu item.
Easy peasy.

One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces.

If you want new characters and a new story, watch another show, that will be new characters and a different story and everyone is happy then
However, if the show was originally created as an anthology series, then i would agree with you and be on board with that direction, because it is what the writers intended, but from what i can gather, the Duffle brothers always saw this as a multi season show, so in that regard, i am pleased the characters and story is continuing and i am looking forward to season 2

I agree. Too many of these shows get wrecked because of over done story lines, increased plot twist that just confuddles character development and ruins the chances for a satisfying conclusion, albeit one that may leave you guessing, possible.
"and we'll see you tomorrow night!"
