What documentary is this based off?
Anyway, not really a fan of this one. Different type of episode. The Twist is what made the episode.

I can see why it might not have appealed to everyone but I quite enjoyed it (and I've never seen any of Spalding's monologues before). Had a lesser actor played that role, it would have been pretty bad. But Hader did a stellar job and made the episode worth watching.

Horrible episode. Easily the worst. Not funny. Not interesting.

Horrible episode. Easily the worst. Not funny. Not interesting. Not entertaining. I completely lost interest and came here to see what it was based on.

Swimming to Cambodia is definitely the subject of the parody. The opening shot of the table with the glass of water being moved from one place to another and then panning up to Parker Gails face is identical to the opening shot of Swimming to Cambodia, and the Swimming to Cambodia movie poster uses the same font/design as the Location is Everything font/design does.

I was thinking it was more like "Swimming To Cambodia". I have seen that one, maybe, 50 times and it is mesmerizing. Completely agree with your evaluation of Hader's performance. He absolutely nailed it.

It's a send-up of the late Spalding Gray's "Monster In A Box" and "Gray's Anatomy" monologues. I was lucky enough to have seen Spalding Gray on Bway in a revival of Our Town many years ago. A truly brilliant actor and world-class raconteur. Committed suicide. Damn shame. Always enjoyed watching him work. You might know him as the guy who played Fran Drescher's psychologist in The Nanny. The guy may not have been a big name outside of NYC circles, but we lost a good one there when Gray decided to check out.
Bill Hader actually does a pretty brilliant job of channeling him for this episode of Doc Now, and I think anybody who sawcthe original monologues would probably agree.

It's my favorite too, along with "Sandy Passage." I thought Hader was absolutely brilliant.

From your response I can tell your sense of humor is not that great. I think this is my favorite episode of the whole series. But hey - different strokes.
