Fall was such a disappointment. It was like things went all this way, to just go to square one. Rory's closure sucked! And the appearances we've been waiting for, were so underwhelming. Not rewatching this, anytime soon.

They just focused too much on Lorelai and Rory. Literally, it was only about them. Any other character had a very limited time. I don't even remember Lane being in it.
Really? My only complaint about the revival is that there wasn't enough Rory AND Lorelai (together, I mean mostly). I hate seeing them with other people.

I didn't hate the revival. I've rewatched some scenes again. But you are definitely right on the last point. They just focused too much on Lorelai and Rory. Literally, it was only about them. Any other character had a very limited time. I don't even remember Lane being in it.
But besides that, the stories just weren't that fun. The dialogue was definitely not as good. It sucks because I remember at the ATX festival or what ever and Amy Sherman Palladino said that people are looking for good content. And she also said that if they did a revival, they would do it the right way. And then she makes this. It was definitely disappointing.

I agree. If it had been good to some degree, I would have already watched it again by now. I haven't and I won't.
To be fair, I always preferred the first 4 to 5 seasons. After that, I already started to feel resentment for Rory. That early resentment was confirmed again.
I hoped it would be good and it just wasn't. The problem is the writer's vision, they always planned for Rory to be 100% like her mom and fall pregnant straight out of college. Which was never what the viewers wanted. Or Lorelai. Or anyone!

I agree with you. The charm is gone and it's boring.

Why it didn't work IMO.

Too much time had passed It was odd seeing Rory as a 32 year old instead of a 20 something year old.

Characters changed. I mean Lorelai would never have approved of Rory being the other woman again.

Edward Herrmann was missed..

I am watching the original show again and I realised that the additional characters were what made the show quirky in a charming way. Just didn't feel the same this time around.

I tried rewatching the revival a few times now and I'm sad to say the first time through it was the only time I had any enjoyment at all. Each time I tried to watch it again, I disliked it a little more. I will still watch the original series, though.
I've been disappointed in all the Netflix revival shows, to be honest. It's interesting what they are doing, but the quality on most of their stuff has just been cringe-worthy, particularly in the script writing department.
