Yes, that's totally it. Of course you'd have to believe that between Lorelai, Rory, and Luke there were maybe a dozen off-screen doctors' appointments: egg and sperm collections, embryo implantation, tests, consultations, etc. And that for some reason, the three of them agreed to
never talk about it with each other.
And that Lorelai was pretty blas about bringing an infant into her life since she was way more interested in figuring out how to expand the inn and keep Michel around. And that they all have incredibly bad communication skills since Luke thought Lorelai was about to leave him just when they were going out of their way to have a baby together.
But other than that, it makes total sense.
