Yeah I had an unique opportunity to watch a YT synopsis with major spoilers about the film on imdb v2. I will not give away anymore details about John Connor's role in Dark Fate or the subplot between John, Sarah and Arnold's Terminator.

The story goes that John, saddened by the death of Max all those years ago, now rears alsatians and names each of them Wolfie.
This is to throw off any future terminators from killing him because only his pal, the one that got melted in the forge, really knew the name of his dog.
Suddenly the T-1000 starts to spill out of the ground…

Interesting. I did not know there's a female protector for this one. Just how much of any role with Furlong and Swarzenegger have? See I had no intention of seeing this and am just learning what's in store.

Ghostbusters was different. That was forced. They changed all 4 Ghostbuststers originally played by 4 males to 4 females. It wasn't subtle, to say the least.
There was never a time when I saw the marketing stills and trailers for this movie that I thought, "oh they're pushing female characters on us." It never crossed my mind.
There's Sarah Conner, who was in the first 2 movies. You can't count her toward the female quota, because she was there was from the beginning.
Then there's the female protector terminator. This is the only gender option in all terminator movies that did not happen. There's been a female villain, but not a female protector. So likewise it was due next on the rotation.
Then there's the woman the terminator is sent to kill. The original mission was to kill Sarah Conner, who was a woman. In T2 is was John Conner. Now we have another woman again. Not much of a leap there.
The fact that there's 3 women stars is by coincidence and chance.

I had a little bit of hope too reading this thread. I thought maybe I could see this as I was expecting the Ghostbuster route of all female cast. Same as Halloween 2018 with Laurie, daughter and granddaughter.

Do you want my honest opinion? I think Edward Furlong returning as John Conner is supposed to be a surprise twist reveal at the end, that none of the trailers give away.
