I believe that when you look at the definition of modern slavery and then apply the definition to history you would find more balance. The numbers would not align due to population growth…but I would imagine the percentage would be very similar and very well could prove to have been more prevalent then as compared to now…at least per capita. Obviously arranged marriage and child trafficking was prevalent in world history as well as was debt bondage etc. it was just not considered slavery in our past.
