As sad as it is that we wont get to track these cadets through their junior and senior years, it's hard to get too upset knowing that when it's all said and done we will have had twenty hours with these characters that we didn't have before. It's not so much a loss as a gain. We gained twenty hours of an Oscar winning captain. Twenty hours of some of the BEST Star Trek we've seen in years. I mean, many sci-fi classics don't get that. Blade Runner is beloved and there are only about 5 hours of Blade Runner in the world.
It makes me think of Firefly. 14 episodes and still beloved to this day.
Sure, we're not getting MORE…but they can't take away what we did get. Starfleet Academy, like Firefly before it, is destined to become a beloved series as years go by. We saw it happen with Enterprise. The show was constantly maligned by online individuals during it's initial run but years later it was "discovered" on Netflix and suddenly fans started clamoring for more. I mean, just recently there have been calls for a President Archer series starring Scott Bakula. It won't happen, but the fact that fans even want it shows just how far Enterprise has come. And (as much as I like Enterprise), Starfleet Academy is a better series all around.
I'm less sad Academy is ending and more happy that it happened.
What a phenomenal series.
You're from the future?Well that's brilliant!Do they still have sandwiches there?
