I'm so glad we're FINALLY getting this series. I'm an old school Trek fan going back to the days when there was ONLY one generation and ever since the TNG days, Starfleet Academy has been one of the most suggested and most rumored potential spinoff ideas. They've literally been considering an Academy series since as far back at the 90s. It's fantastic that they're FINALLY moving forward on this concept. Took long enough.
