It’s a very good book. I read it when it came out and liked it a lot.

That's interesting but perhaps a little early in this century to be making such a list? It may well be an excellent book and I should seek it out-but my point really is the NYT (along with most newspapers I suspect) have made their own recommendations worthless by having so many subdivisions.
I have always depended on the kindness of Strangers - and the bastards let me down!
