Hello.
I am looking for the title of a horror b-movie made in the 70s (or 80s at most).
What I can remember:
1.it's set in modern times in a country town in South USA.
2.The protagonist is a male teenager who transforms into a locust-looking humanoid. I dont remember if it was by an experiment someone did on him or a curse that runs through his family.
3.When he transforms to the locust, he kindnaps his blonde girlfriend and rapes her in the woods. he leaves her unconscious there.
4.your archetypical country sheriff is after him. I think he kills the monster in the end.
5.I am not completely sure but I think it's a Roger Corman production. It's a cheap, b-movie.
anyone knows what's the movie I am talking about?

In my defense, I'm pretty sure Joe Bob Brigs called it a mantis. But then again the character John Bloom used for Joe Bob was that of an ignorant redneck that didn't let facts get in the way of what he knows.

I believe the movie references a cicada. That is why the boy transforms into a monster after 17 years (the life cycle of a cicada).

yep, that's it. it was a mantis, not a locust. thank you very much.

oh, the monster was supposed to be cicada?
Yes, it does sound like THE BEAST WITHIN although in that movie it is supposed to be a cicada monster.

The Beast Within (1982)
Saw it on Joe Bob Brig's Monstervision. Woman gets raped by a mantis monster. The child grows to a teen, and goes on a killing spree.
