Raw salmon can have parasites. Some guy ate sushi everyday for lunch and shat out a long worm and took it to the ER so he could be treated appropriately. I wouldn’t risk it.

People eat salmon raw in sushi all the time. Just be sure you are safe in handling it and not leaving it out for hours at a time. Salmon is one of my favorite foods, although I never eat it with cream cheese on a bagel.

Another form of salmon I really like is Rubinstein's canned red salmon. It's very good… way better than canned pink salmon. I keep several cans on hand in case of the Zombie Apocalypse.

It's eaten raw on sushi al the time, but yeah, not a good idea to eat random raw salmon from the grocery store raw. Should be sushi grade.
