They look soft, were they? I prefer softer cookies to crunchy ones. They look fine.
If you're though concerned, you could use a round cookie cutter to size them. Even if it's not a rolled out dough, a round cutter can be used to mold the dough. If you feel they're too naked then decorate with colored sugars before or after baking. You could also try coloring your dough with food coloring for a festive look or painting designs on them with egg paint prior to baking.
Egg paint is just mixing an egg yolk and some food coloring, a drop or two of water if needed, and then painting it onto your unbaked cookies with brushes. I now use egg replacements but if you're not vegan then use eggs, preferably cage free.

Schwan's also has good chocolate chip cookies, I keep them in the freezer because they are individual cookies so you can bake as many or as little as you want - I have baked just one cookie a few times when WKD didn't want any. Love warm sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies.
