Well it’s good to have some sense of authority over what you want to do about your treatment. Based on what you said about lexapro helping tremendously when taken alone I would agree to get off busipirone since it seemed unnecessary from the start.

so my doc got back to me this morning and gave me a choice to up the dosage or get off it
I was hoping they would have figured that out and not leave it up to me. I have no idea what to do with it. so I'm getting off it.

yea the lexapro was great. I didn't have a single anxiety attack the entire time I was taking it by itself.
I sent the doc a message tonight and hopefully they will have a solution for me on monday

Do you think lexapro alone helped better? I would agree with asking your doctor to help get off the other one if isn’t helping and see how that goes

I was on lexapro only for over a year until I started busipirone in January. when I was only on lexapro, my anxiety was manageable. but after taking lexapro AND busipirone for the last few months my anxiety has been getting worse and today reached a new low

So it worked until it stopped working? I would bring this up to your doctor because it could be something like a need of an increase of dosage or maybe a medication interaction if you’re taking other medications. Lack of sleep and stress levels can influence it too. I get anxiety attacks when I drink too much caffeine

I've been taking it for 4 months. my anxiety was manageable before but it's getting worse now. I had an anxiety attack today after going over a year without a single one on my previous med.
so I can only assume it's the busipirone because there's nothing else I can think of that would be causing my anxiety to suddenly flare up

Did you just start taking it? It can take awhile to show effect.

yea I'm hoping I can get off it quick. I'm on the lowest possible dosage for it so even if I have to taper it shouldn't take too long

Make sure you talk with your doc about coming off that med to see if you need to taper off of it and get a schedule. When it comes to psych meds especially, stopping cold turkey can seriously mess you up bad. Good luck and hope you feel better.
