Just finished reading the section on the fight in cornfield at Antietam in Chapter 6 of
Mr. Lincoln's Army
by Bruce Catton. It is pretty outstanding to read. I doubt that I could have stood being there.
I would suggest reading Chapter 6 of
Mr Lincoln's Army
, before visiting Antietam Battlefield in Western Maryland. It would add a lot of interest to your visit.
My next reading will involve the Sunken Road at Antietam.
