Just saw a play live at a local university for the very first time in my life, Beyond Therapy, and I gotta say the atmosphere is so totally different! I'm not just watching people perform live, I literally felt their performances pull me in! Especially most impressive to me are that these performers are just amateur college students, most even being in the first year at the university yet they put on far better acting than the daily things that show on TV and even a lot of modestly budget films that are in the multi-million range of production!
So I'm wondering if this is really natural for any competent performance that the acting in a play even amateur ones like college events that it would pull you in like you feel you're part of the story seeing the characters like they're real next door neighbors go through the motions of their life? Is this how live stageplay supposed to be like and why they still remain popular despite movies and TV being around for a century?
So if I watch professional play by a theater specializing in Shakespeare or a top opera house in France, would that mean I'd be pulled in even more into the experience feeling like I'm a participant seeing it within the story than what I just experienced at the university?
I swear what often takes some of the best actors to give off onscreen esp in Hollywood productions I just seen literally with my own two eyes last night performed by amateurs!
