If you hit them just right with a hammer and a big chisel, you could get lucky and split it right down the center. But the odds are against it.
If your dad has a circular saw, that should work fine. But you need the special masonry blade.

You need a special blade for that purpose. Like a masonry blade, that’s designed to cut through tile, stone, etc. You probably don’t have the equipment to do it.
A rock shop (I don’t know if those exist anymore, but they did when I was a kid) could do it. Otherwise, you’d be better off buying them cut, and polishing them yourself.
