or was spotted shooting across the night sky over New Jersey Sunday night, according to video of the event and a non-profit group that tracks the phenomena.
The meteor screamed across the sky above Lakewood at about 19:15, according to footage published by the Lakewood Scoop.
The meteor was likely part of a “fireball event” this weekend, where meteors showered the sky above Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, according to the non-profit group American Meteor Society.
The group, which tracks meteor showers, received some 280 notifications about the event, they wrote on their website.
Thousands of fireball events, like the one captured in Lakewood, occur in the Earth’s atmosphere each day, but most go unseen by humans because they occur over oceans or during the day, when they are not visible, according to the group.

They SAY it was a meteor, but can we believe THEM? It could have been some nefarious extraterrestrial craft.
