My cat meows like crazy if I shut her out of a bedroom or bathroom, or if I'm trying to sleep in past 6 am, or things like that. She also gets snuggly in the evening and lays on or near me while I goof around on my laptop, but when I finally turn it off and roll over to go to bed, she jumps off and starts meowing a bunch and running around and being a nuisance.
What does this mean? Any advice short of dropping her off at a shelter?

Some cats need a companion cat.

How come you can't sleep in bed with your cat? It needs you.
Sleep past the time it wants? Forget it. Cat will miss you and meow your ass up.
Don't let it in rooms? That is burning curiosity for the cat. The home is their castle.
I have 8 cats and 3 dogs.

All my cats do that, some more than others. I just give them the fuss when they demand it. I'm whipped that way.

Assuming she's been spayed, your cat is probably just lonely and has a lot of excess energy.
Things I'd recommend:
-Feed her right before bed time, if possible.
-Try to wear her out by playing with her for a good 15 minutes or so. Laser pointers, teaser wands, etc.
-Leave some toys she can play with alone after you go to bed to entertain herself.

I dunno, all of my cats act like that fromt time to time, depending on their mood. And since they are hunters and more of night creatures it's only natural that they get active later in the evening and during the night.

You know, the term "bricked" when referring to a piece of electronics ceasing to work came about because sometimes people's cats would start make weird noises constantly, and the typical response was to hit them over the head with a brick, killing them. So now when our electronics start making weird noises and end up dying, we refer to them as "bricked". P. interesting eh??
