This is going to be the Ellisons attempt to turn Star Trek into a action adventure franchise with none of the social commentary that made Star Trek what is is.
That said, the guys behind Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves are behind it, and that film was delightful.
I guess we'll see how it goes.
