First time seeing Tool. Couldn't have asked for a better set-list, they performed better than expected, and the visuals were incredible and something I've never witnessed, on this scale, before.
Primus, Amenra and Sigur Rós all come close to being the best live performances I've experienced, but Tool took the cake and ran off with it while I was distracted by their laser show and distinctive sound.
Was worried that Maynard wouldn't perform so well, as I've seen some live footage where he wasn't doing too great. I can say that for this particular show, those fears were unfounded. He was on-point and has aged like a fine wine.
The no phone/electronics/recording policy worked out perfectly as there were no distractions from what was going down on-stage and all around as part of the show (except for several retards that kept getting up because they drank too much and couldn't hold their piss in).
As a bassist, there were times where I wished Justin Chancellor was louder in the mix, but he had plenty of time to shine, and when they came out for a 3-song encore, his bass was deliciously present during the heaviest parts of Invincible. It sounded fatter, clearer and much nastier than the studio recording. Love the man's work and he continues to inspire.
