Yep, Hollywood has lost the plot, often literally it seems. I've watched fewer and fewer movies at the cinema of late, and it's not just because of covid, it's because there's damn all worth watching.
I found myself looking at a list of movies Hollywood put out in '93, I saw 17 of them at the cinema. 17. I've watched two in the last five years I think and both of them have been Dune. It takes a Villeneuve type to make me vaguely interested.
I've watched plenty of movies at home, but mostly over a decade old. Ones that I'd missed on initial release, usually. And some, like Covenant, that I thought I might as well see how bad it was. I've seen Romulus too. Thought that one was kind of forgettable.
You should try a YouTube channel, don't let Drinker get all the shekels.

There was never anything to that movie but great cinematics, superb cast and an intellectual property to set sail from.
How they sank it so badly is anyone's guess but it seems to have drifted into so many franchises these days that it must be some sort of strategy
As for the Critical Drinker, he was great at the beginning. Got a few years under his belt as a worthwhile channel to watch regarding how modern cinema was lacking. But he's lost his way, chasing whatever it topical and popular the way a Jewish lawyer chases ambulances
You should check out Romulus and Earth. Still a bit guff but no more so than Resurrection

I think I did it because I would come back to over ten replies all filled with particulars and going through them one by one would only make the backlog longer from replies in the meantime. Having proved my point in overloading those objecting to me in bulk my opponents replies would be more concise and less often; after all we've all got to eat, sleep, drink and pee.

For such an apparent lost soul they had imitated and therefore found mentorship (At least in my head) which meant they were bettering themselves. I never got the vibe from him about suicidal thoughts but we all hide them as best we can when they surprise us with their existence (Well most of us). I guess he felt connected to you enough to say them out loud, as it were, which can be a good way of overcoming them. I hope what he wrote wasn't to weird for you - again another reason why I'm adverse to PMs.
I sometimes think about folk like ShatteredBlueDreams or BB-18 and wonder how they are doing. IMDb was more than just a large discussion board for movies, TV and those who make that all happen; it was a sanctuary for lost souls and those who try to help or tease them.

The one guy that puzzled me a huge amount was Psydoodle, do you remember him? I think he was an extremely troubled soul and I had a few PMs from him suggesting that he was in trouble with drinking and suicidal thoughts. He just disappeared and I always wondered if he was okay. I hope he just stepped away from the internet and got help, he was smart and very funny on the board…so surprisingly sad.
I'm sticking by my guns that on the Internet people can be anything they want to be. And who anyone you chooses to be is an exaggeration of their best self.
