The movie tried to hide that fact that it's based on the south. It's in North Carolina. It tries to make it seem like the characters are ling in NYC. Nope.
The thing is, in the South, an average pudgy liking man like Hal dating an obese woman like Rosemary wouldn't be surprising. Even back in 2001.
The fact that the movie makes it seem like such a controversy is ridiculous.
