Ray’s plan is to murder Lena in the mental institution knowing that he can’t be held responsible for his actions because he is legally insane.
How plausible is this?
His lawyer friend helped him with the plan so the movie wants us to believe this is watertight, he’s not just nutso (plus in the unrated version we see him at the zoo with his kids at the end so the plan worked), but how would this play out in real life? Presumably he would either be held in the mental asylum for decades more, or he would straight up be tried for murder and go to jail for 20+ years, ruining his life and leaving his kids without a father..?
