The snobby, self centered, and spoiled bitch or the prostitute? Gee, it's kinda hard to pick since they were both in it for the money he he. Well, Ophelia obviously has a good personality and that's all that matters in the end, right? If Whinthorpe can live with the fact that she banged many, many men for a living then I'd say he made the right choice (considering she doesn't become like Penelope or screws around).

Does nobody realize that Penelope was a slut as well? Remember the a capella song about her and her friends at the private club? Yes, they were singing about her and her friends being slutty fotzen. This scene is intentional to show the audience what type of person Penelope really is. As for this so-called class you say she has, I don't think asking for sexy time in front of the butler would qualify as class. And, Penelope quickly hooked up with a new guy right after dropping Winthorpe.

True. Definitions of class differ but you're arguably right that true class has nothing to do with social class/background, and everything to do with manners and decency, something I suppose Penelope lacked.
Still, I'd be uneasy about a relationship with a prostitute, and the fact that she doesn't do drugs and hasn't got a pimp doesn't necessarily mean she'd be clean of venereal diseases.

The way I see it, sometimes fate chooses for you. The minute Penelope mockingly calls him "Louie," you know he's Ophelia's guy forever.

An hourglass that was stacked up top but not oversize (they were real, and they were spectacular) tapering to a narrow waist then flaring to wide hips, a nice tush and shapely legs. Penelope had nothing "anywhere else." She was just skinny, with no muscle tone.

Jamie Lee Curtis was much cuter in the face and sharp eyes, but Penelope had it everywhere else. I just rewatched this and hadn't remembered Penelope.

Ophelia cared a lot more for Louis. She looked after him when he was sick, gave him a place to stay. When Louis took the overdose of pills she sounded genuinely worried and heartbroken when she and Billy Ray found him.

I agree. I'd have definitely preferred Ophelia to Penelope. When it comes to women it's not only looks or only personality. To me, it's a combination of the two and I'd have taken Ophelia over Penelope.

Absolutely Ophelia. Penelope was a shallow, selfish, hypocritical, judgmental, stuck up airhead socialite who was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and never worked a day in her life. All she cares about are her snotty parties. If you're interested in anything other than sex, she would be quickly annoying. Ophelia was smart and compassionate, a real woman who got a bad start in life but worked her way up out of poverty. Remember the way she cancelled a session and got into bed to keep Louis warm when he was sick. Penelope wouldn't have made any kind of sacrifice like that.

If we're being realistic, the fact that Ophelia had slept with countless men would bother me. That said, personality-wise, it made total sense for him to end up with her. He was a changed man after all of this.
