Which would you prefer?
I have always thought that once they made their millions Louis should have gone back for Penelope. Yeah, I know she was snobby and brushed Winthorpe off earlier, but she was a stunner and would have been a waste for that Todd ass hole to keep her!
Anyone else agree with that or do you think he was right in staying with Ophelia?

Ah, but there's one key element Penelope reveals about herself early on in the movie:
"I would have grovelled and begged for mercy."
If Penelope's wealth was tied in with her great uncles, the Dukes, then she may have lost it all as well. In that case, she might come crawling back to Winthorpe out of desperation.
Winthorpe could still marry Ophelia while keeping Penelope as the housemaid. Ophelia is a liberated woman and might go along with it.

The snobby, self centered, and spoiled bitch or the prostitute? Gee, it's kinda hard to pick since they were both in it for the money he he. Well, Ophelia obviously has a good personality and that's all that matters in the end, right? If Whinthorpe can live with the fact that she banged many, many men for a living then I'd say he made the right choice (considering she doesn't become like Penelope or screws around).
As far as looks goes, Penelope undoubtedly had a very stunning face, but Ophelia's body was to die for (holy smokes that "swedish" outfit!). Pick: uh, both.

Does nobody realize that Penelope was a slut as well? Remember the a capella song about her and her friends at the private club? Yes, they were singing about her and her friends being slutty fotzen. This scene is intentional to show the audience what type of person Penelope really is. As for this so-called class you say she has, I don't think asking for sexy time in front of the butler would qualify as class. And, Penelope quickly hooked up with a new guy right after dropping Winthorpe.

Penelope had breeding, but no class.
True. Definitions of class differ but you're arguably right that true class has nothing to do with social class/background, and everything to do with manners and decency, something I suppose Penelope lacked.
Still, I'd be uneasy about a relationship with a prostitute, and the fact that she doesn't do drugs and hasn't got a pimp doesn't necessarily mean she'd be clean of venereal diseases.

Penelope had breeding, but no class. She was more embarrassed at having to sit with the common people than worried about her fiance in jail.
Ophelia doesn't do drugs and has no pimp.
Penelope had class and breeding, plus she was hotter than Jamie Lee Curtis. Whereas Ophelia was a prostitute during the early 1980s. What if she had AIDS?

You're on drugs. Yellow pills. Red ones. Whatever Louis put in the drawer. JLC had about the closest thing to a perfect figure I've ever seen in any actress. An hourglass that was stacked up top but not oversize (they were real, and they were spectacular) tapering to a narrow waist then flaring to wide hips, a nice tush and shapely legs. Penelope had nothing "anywhere else." She was just skinny, with no muscle tone.

Absolutely Ophelia. Penelope was a shallow, selfish, hypocritical, judgmental, stuck up airhead socialite who was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and never worked a day in her life. All she cares about are her snotty parties. If you're interested in anything other than sex, she would be quickly annoying. Ophelia was smart and compassionate, a real woman who got a bad start in life but worked her way up out of poverty. Remember the way she cancelled a session and got into bed to keep Louis warm when he was sick. Penelope wouldn't have made any kind of sacrifice like that.
