<p dir="auto">..was to remain near her daughter who was expecting her first child.<br />
But I'm not sure she would have done this.<br />
She had been in an unhappy marriage and had told Stevens that her time at Darlington Hall was among the happiest in her life and that she longed to be useful again.<br />
She loved Stevens and probably knew he felt the same way.<br />
She could have returned to Darlington Hall and still been able to see her daughter and grandchild from time to time.<br />
She could even have had them visit her at Darlington Hall.<br />
Mr Lewis seemed the fairly chilled out type and I'm sure he would have allowed that.<br />
There was certainly enough bedrooms.</p>
