As someone who works in banking, these charges are bogus. She bought a small second home and signed a rider to use the property for personal for one year. Before the year was up, she rented it to family members. The fraud comes from the fact that she got a lower mortgage interest rate on the house being designated for personal use as opposed to investment or rental property. Looks like she saved about $19,000.00.
Most banks would not pursue this legally. They may require some kind of financial settlement but no legal action would be taken. It's just not worth the time to go after small matters of "fraud" like this. James should have been more careful as she is a prosecutor.
I assume any rental income she received was reported on her taxes as she is not being charged with tax fraud.
