Japanese audiences seem to be more into films with over-the-top action, poppy colors, campy acting, fast-paced comic dialogue, and the like (i.e. Super Sentai, Pokmon). Batman and Robin seem like the type of film that would be well received by general audiences in Japan, especially kids. Was it popular in that country?

I don't know, but Supergirl was popular in Japan, so I know what you're saying. I think they're keen on Supergirl over there, though.
